Dr. Eric Blake ND, MSOM, Dipl. Ac.

Medical Director and Naturopathic Physician

Dr. Blake was born in New York City and grew up in the Midwest. He received a degree in Cultural Anthropology and completed his preparatory medical curriculum at the University of Cincinnati in 1994. After graduating, Dr. Blake worked as an herbalist in a small natural foods store and corner natural medicine apothecary in Cincinnati, Ohio. In anticipation of naturopathic medical school, he moved to New York City and worked alongside a well-respected acupuncturist in mid-town Manhattan.

Dr. Blake went on to graduate from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon. National College is the oldest college of naturopathic medicine in North America, celebrating 60 years in 2016. During his time there, he completed a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine and a Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine. He pursued special studies in physiotherapy for infectious and degenerative diseases, Constitutional Hydrotherapy, history of natural medicine, and German irisdiagnosis. Even as a student, he was already teaching and lecturing in the required courses. After graduation he completed a residency at one of the busiest and longest continually operating naturopathic clinics in North America.

Dr. Blake is co-editor and contributing author of the professional textbook Naturopathic Physical Medicine (2008). He has authored chapters for other professional textbooks as well - Chronic Pelvic Pain and Dysfunction (2011) and Fibromyalgia: A practitioners guide to care (2010). He has authored a teaching workbook on physiotherapy for physicians and is the history editor of the Foundations of Naturopathic Medicine project.

Dr. Blake combines his extensive knowledge of therapeutic techniques with the outstanding training of a modern naturopathic college and his apprenticeship at the side of masters of the art.

Dr. Chris Metro ND, MSOM, LAc

Naturopathic Physician

Dr. Metro developed an interest in natural medicine early in life while growing up in Buffalo, New York. Nutritional and herbal medicines were introduced to him by his grandmother at an early age, and a later introduction to homeopathic medicine cultivated his first deep interest in the field of natural medicine.

Since both his father and grandfather were chemists, it was natural for him to pursue and complete a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. He went on to specialize in silicate, chlor-alkali and petroleum based derivatives while working for Occidental Chemical Corporation. His work provided him with a wide range of experiences in many fields of manufacturing throughout the US. During this time he continued to pursue his interest in natural medicine by completing course work at the New England School of Homeopathy, which inspired his desire to pursue further study at the National College of Natural Medicine.

Dr. Metro completed his Doctorate in Naturopathic medicine and his Master of Science in Oriental Medicine at the National College of Naturopathic Medicine (NCNM). During his tenure at NCNM, he received special clinical experience in addiction treatment and infectious diseases by completing internship programs at Portland Alternative Health Center, De Paul Treatment Youth Center, Outside In and Dignity Village. He developed his interest and experience with difficult and recalcitrant diseases at the Immune Enhancement Program of the Institute of Traditional Medicine in Portland, Oregon.

Dr. Metro has traveled and studied throughout China working extensively with the respected Daoist elder Prof. Wang Qingyu of the Sichuan Acadamy of Cultural History and Prof. Liu Lihong of Guangxi Institute for Research and Preservation of Classical Chinese Medicine. He has worked with Prof. Heiner Fruehauf, founder of the Classical Chinese medicine department at NCNM, to establish an online film archive of interviews and lectures from experts in mainland China. Currently, Dr. Metro practices at the clinic on Mondays.

Dr. Marcus Coplin, ND

Naturopathic Physician

This is Dr. Coplin’s first time living in Portland, but he is no stranger to the Northwest. After growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, Dr. Coplin attended Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetes to study philosophy and cultural biology. During his time at Hampshire, Dr. Coplin became licensed as a biofeedback physical therapist. Later on, he attended Bastyr University in Washington to earn his ND with a focus on physiotherapy and botanical medicine. Following the completion of his formal education, Dr. Coplin completed advanced clinical work in IV therapy and Naturopathic Oncology care, then studied Athroposophic Oncology at the Ita Wegman Clinic in Donarch, Switzerland.

Dr. Coplin returned to the east coast to practice in New York City, later leaving to pursue a research sabbatical in Eastern Europe and the Near East, studying at a variety of Physiotherapy and Balneology-based Hospitals throughout the region.

After all of these experiential adventures, Dr. Coplin returned to San Francisco to operate one practice focused on physiotherapy, as well as a separate practice in Berkeley focused on IV therapy.

Dr. Coplin is a board member of the Balneology Association of North America, and he is the North American representative to International Society of Medical Hydrology and Climatology. He has worked with Dr. Blake over the years, and he is so excited to explore Portland’s rich culture and experience the Oregon wilderness.

Dr. Christine Kadykalo, ND

Naturopathic Physician

Dr. Kadykalo, also known as "Dr. K" hails from Toronto, Canada, and earned her B.S. Biomedical Science at the University of Ottawa. During her undergraduate studies, Dr. K spent a semester abroad in Australia, studying health sciences at the University of Sydney. Following her graduation, she worked in a neuroscience lab conducting research on Parkinson's disease.

Dr. K earned her doctorate from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine and interned with a focus on adjunctive cancer care. She has also participated in a volunteer medical brigade in Guatemala with Naturopathic Medicine for Global Health.

Having always had a strong interest in health and medicine, Dr. K discovered naturopathy when a family member became sick and was treated with nutritional and herbal medicine. She was drawn to the idea of using natural means to support the body's healing processes, and found her passion as an ND.

Dr. K completed her internship with us in early 2018 and now joins our medical staff to help see patients on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Beyond medicine, she is also interested in sports, music, and travel. She spent several years training as a competitive figure skater, ran track, cross country, and was a member of the rowing team at the University of Ottawa. More lately, she enjoys spending time in the mountains hiking and snowboarding.

Dr. Lloyd Reiter, ND, DC

Dr. Reiter always strived to expand his knowledge of natural medicine, which led him to National University of Naturopathic Medicine (NUMN) in Portland, Oregon, where he earned a Doctorate of Natural Medicine (ND) degree. Upon earning this degree, he joined Portland Clinic of Holistic Health as a Resident Physician.

Dr. Nicole Priscal, ND

Resident Doctor

Dr. Priscal is a Florida native who now resides in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. She earned her B.A. in Biopsychology and Child Development at Tufts University in Boston. From there, she embarked on a lifetime journey to learn how to cultivate the wisdom and skills needed to cure and prevent diseases. These passions lead Dr. P to further her education at the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) where she received her degree as a Naturopathic Doctor.

She enjoys traveling the world and engaging in different cultures through music and culinary experiences. Her travels have led her to Peru, Cuba, France, and Belgium to name a few. When she is not cooking or gardening, you can find her reading at the park or walking her dog Frida.
